New terms

Stereo-a system or the equipment for reproducing stereophonic sound.
Channel- a path for the transfer of signals or data within a computer or between a computer and its peripheral equipment.
Track- a data-recording path on a storage medium, as a magnetic disk, tape, or drum, that is accessible to a read-write head in a given position as the medium moves past.
Frequency-The rate at which a repeating event occurs, such as the full cycle of a wave. Frequencies are usually measured in hertz.
Hertz-the SI unit of frequency, equal to one cycle per second.
Decibel- a unit used to express the intensity of a sound wave, equal to 20 times the common logarithm of the ratio of the pressure produced by the sound wave to a reference pressure, usually 0.0002 microbar.
 WAV - Stands for Waveform Audio Format. This is a high-quality audio file type generally used for applications that require high quality, such as CDs.
MP3- MP3s usually have no usage restrictions and can be used on as many computers or iPods as you want. Short for MPEG Layer-3
aiff- •Audio Interface File Format (AIFF) The format can store monaural or multichannel sampled sounds in a range of sample rates and sample resolutions. Although originally AIFF did not support compressed audio data, a new version of the format called AIFF-C has been defined which allows compression.
